Online Banking Frauds

Protecting victims of unauthorized account access, illegal fund transfers, and digital banking misuse through strategic legal action and evidence-driven recovery support.

What is Online Banking Fraud?

Online banking fraud occurs when cyber criminals gain unauthorized access to a customer’s internet banking credentials and use them to transfer funds, change account settings, or conduct transactions without consent. These frauds typically involve phishing attacks, malware, credential theft, SIM-swap manipulation, or compromised devices. In many cases, fraudsters obtain login IDs, passwords, or OTPs and route stolen funds through multiple intermediary accounts (commonly known as money mule transactions) to obscure tracking and delay recovery.

Common Scenarios

  • Unauthorized fund transfers through internet banking access
  • Phishing links, fake banking pages, or malicious apps capturing credentials
  • OTP interception, SIM swap frauds, and mobile banking compromise
  • Remote access tools or malware capturing login details from devices
  • Money mule routing of stolen funds across multiple accounts
  • “Over-the-shoulder” observation or compromised systems storing credentials
